SPEND A YEAR IN ITALY!
Why? The opportunity to live and study in Italy
for a year is something you will remember all your life. Living
among Italian people and attending an Italian university helps
you to immerse yourself in that culture in ways that a short visit
never can. Your perspective on the world will never be quite the
same again.
Who? All Italian majors who have completed Italian
1-6 with an average grade of B or better and have a cumulative
GPA of 3.0 or better are eligible to apply to the program. Students
with only one year of Italian may also apply; they will be required
to attend a summer intensive language program before the academic
year begins. Final selection is based on an interview with an
Education Abroad Program (EAP) committee.
Where? The program sends students to the Universities
of Padua, Venice and Bologna; a few art students may pursue special
academic programs at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts or the Venice
Institute of Architecture. Senior Honors students may apply to
go to the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa (medieval and Renaissance
studies), or to spend a semester at Bocconi University in Milan
(economics, international business).
What? Participants in the EAP pay the same
fees they would pay at UCSB, as well as room, board, books and
personal travel and living expenses.
