SAT II score of 570 in Italian places a student in Italian 4 and satisfies Area B of General Education.

Students who do no have scores from the Advanced Placement Test or SAT II Test in Italian may take the Italian Placement Test to determine proper class level if they plan to continue their high school study of Italian at UCSB.

Students who take the Italian Placement Test must still be placed in the system to sign up for a class.

Students who are transferring any college coursework in a language should not take the language placement exam, but instead must use their transfer credit as a guide for language placement. Generally, two semesters of language is equal to one year at UCSB (3 quarters). If you have taken only semester 1, you may enroll in quarter 2 or 3--it's your choice.
