  • Spring 2008: An exciting series of events dealing with slavery, human rights, and the history of human personality.
    - Susan Buck-Morss (Cornell University): "Hegel, Haiti and Universal History." Thursday, April 10, 4:00pm. McCune Conferenre Room, Interdisciplinary Humanities Center.
    -Robert Davis (Ohio State University): "The Celebration of Slavery in the Christian-Muslim World." Tuesday April 15, 3:30pm. McCune Conference Room, Interdisciplinary Humanities Center.
    - The 9th Annual UC Santa Barbara-UCI Graduate Conference in French and Francophone Studies will be held May 8-10, 2008. This year's themes are "Humanism, Human Rights, and Ethics in French and Francophone Studies". Professor Madeleine Dobie (Columbia University) will speak on "Slavery and Human Rights in the French Enlightenment." Click here to down the program.
