Bienvenue en Français 3!

French 3 is a continuation of French 2 and builds upon the speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills already acquired. Instruction continues entirely in French using the same interactive methods introduced in French 1 and 2. By the end of the course, you will have covered all of basic French grammar and you will have a solid working vocabulary! You will be amazed at how much and how well you will be able to express yourself in your new language!

Some of the conversational topics we will cover are:

  • Travel throughout the French and Francophone World
  • Health and Physical Fitness
  • Ecology
  • The Media: Cinema, Television, and Reading
  • The Arts: Music, Theatre, Painting, Sculpture
Some cultural topics are:
  • The City of Paris
  • French and Francophone views of Ecology
  • French and Francophone Cinema
  • The Arts in the French and Francophone World

We will cover the following grammar topics:

  • The future tense
  • The pronoun y
  • Prepositions of place
  • Relative pronouns
  • The present subjunctive
  • The present conditional
  • Avant de + the present infinitive and après + the past infinitive
  • Verbs followed by an infinitive
  • Verb tense agreements
  • Double pronouns


Course work includes regular workbook exercises and language lab, 4 quizzes, 4 short compositions, 1 midterm, and 1 final.
