What is a photographic image? What's the meaning of looking at the world through a lens? We see without being seen. Film thus encapsulates the aim of technology which, ever since the primitive tool, seeks to free the self from physical mooring. Technology controls nature by objectifying it, turning it into information, image, spectacle. It is a dream of disembodied existence.
Cinema fulfills this fantasy of removing ourselves from physical life, of seeing without our body, of being spirit.
